Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh submitted his nomination papers from the Rajnandgaon constituency on Monday, ahead of the state assembly elections. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was present during Singh’s nomination filing.

Additionally, Bharat Lal Verma, Vinod Khandekar, and Geeta Ghasi Sahu also filed their nominations from the Dongargaon, Dongargarh, and Khujji assembly constituencies, respectively.

Post the nomination filing, Shah addressed the “Parivartan Sankalp Mahasabha” in Rajnandgaon. Speaking to ANI after filing his nomination, Raman Singh, a six-term MLA who has previously won thrice from the Rajnandgaon seat, expressed confidence in the BJP’s triumph in all four assembly constituencies.

In the Rajnandgaon assembly constituency, the Congress has nominated Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation Chairman Girish Dewangan to contest against the former Chief Minister. Responding to his opponent, Singh stated that people would become familiar with Girish Dewangan within 15 days, coinciding with the commencement of the elections.

Chhattisgarh is scheduled to vote in two phases, on November 7 and November 17. The results of the 2023 assembly elections will be announced on December 3, 2023.
