Justice Abhijit Ganguly, the judge at the Calcutta High Court, resigned from his pots on Tuesday. There’s a strong buzz that Justice Gangly will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. Room Number 17 at the Calcutta HC witnessed emotional scenes as several lawmakers at the farewell of the judge.

In last two years, Justice Ganguly has often been seen slamming Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress and its governance in West Bengal. Some reports suggest that Justice Ganguly is likely to contest the General Elections on the ticket of BJP. Some say that he may get ticket to fight the pols from the Tamluk constituency. In last General Elections, Dibyendu Adhikari of Trinamool had won the Tamluk seat.

On Sunday, the BJP revealed its initial list comprising 195 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, marking a significant shift by replacing 33 sitting MPs with new candidates. In Assam, the BJP announced its nominees for 11 Lok Sabha seats, with six incumbents and five fresh faces. Parimal Suklabaidhya has been selected by the party to contest from the Silchar Lok Sabha constituency, previously held by Rajdeep Roy in the 2019 general elections. In West Bengal, the BJP opted to replace its Alipurduar MP John Barla with Manoj Tigga for the constituency, which is reserved for Scheduled Tribes.
