Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ramesh Bidhuri on Friday made objectionable remarks against Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Danish Ali in the Lok Sabha during a discussion on the Chandrayaan-3 mission. The remarks of Bidhuri, who represents South Delhi, have now been expunged.
As Bidhuri was making derogatory remarks against Danish Ali, his party colleague and former union minister Harsh Vardhan was seen laughing in the backdrop. His remarks drew outrage among Opposition members, who demanded action against the BJP MP.
Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mahua Moitra took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared a snippet of Bidhuri’s statement in the Parliament.
She also called out Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and stated, “Feel free initiate a privilege motion against me for calling you out. Will be happy to face any committees. But am asking you here and now- what action are you taking against @rameshbidhuri?”
According to ANI sources, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla took note of BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri’s statement and gave a warning to him. “In case of recurrence, strict action will be taken,” sources told ANI.
Following Bidhuri’s explosive statement on Thursday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed regret in the Lok Sabha over the offensive remarks made against Ali.
Singh said he had not heard the remarks and urged the Chair to delete them from the proceedings if they had hurt the Opposition members. Congress member K Suresh, who was in the Chair, said he had already directed the officials to expunge the remarks.

Bidhuri’s abusive statement triggered a massive backlash from Opposition parties. Congress leader Pawan Khera slammed him and said on X, “I have seen Ramesh Bidhuri as MLA in Delhi Assembly. He was better during those days. I guess, in the Parliament his upbringing has been ably done by Modi-Shah.”
AAP MP Sanjay Singh also voiced similar sentiments and demanded strict action against Bidhuri.
