In the Rajasthan Assembly bypolls held on November 13, the BJP emerged victorious, clinching five out of the seven contested seats, according to the Election Commission. The results, announced on Saturday, saw Congress and the Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) winning one seat each. BJP candidates Rajendra Bhamboo (Jhunjhunu), Rajendra Gurjar (Deoli-Uniara), Rewant Ram Danga (Khinwsar), Shanta Amrit Lal Meena (Salumbar), and Sukhavant Singh (Ramgarh) secured wins for the party.
Meanwhile, BAP’s Anil Kumar Katara won the Chorasi seat, and Congress bagged the Dausa seat. The defeat of BJP’s candidate Jag Mohan, who is the brother of Cabinet Minister Kirodi Lal Meena, from Dausa was a significant blow to both the Meena family and the ruling BJP.
With this result, the BAP increased its strength to four MLAs in the 200-member Rajasthan Assembly, while the RLP, which had one seat previously, now has none. The new composition of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly stands at 119 BJP MLAs, 66 Congress MLAs, 4 BAP MLAs, 2 BSP MLAs, 1 RLD MLA, and 8 independents.
