Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Monday accused the Election Commission of being involved in a “voter scam” in the New Delhi constituency, where AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal is running in the upcoming assembly elections.
At a press conference, Atishi claimed that 10% of new voters had been added to the electoral roll in recent days, while 5.5% of voters had been removed. She questioned the Election Commission’s role in the matter, calling it “suspicious” for failing to investigate the issue.
“I have written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner asking for a meeting to discuss our concerns,” Atishi said.
Senior AAP leaders, including Rajya Sabha MPs Raghav Chadha and Sanjay Singh, supported her claims. Singh added that an application had been filed to remove his wife, Anita Singh, from the electoral roll.
On December 11, AAP leaders, led by Kejriwal, met with the Election Commission to raise concerns over alleged mass voter deletions. With Delhi’s assembly elections scheduled for February, the issue has become a point of contention as AAP seeks a third consecutive term after winning 62 out of 70 seats in the previous election.
