Meanwhile, the party has decided to go alone in West Bengal for Lok Sabha polls. It cleared names of candidates for as many as 11 seats that included two sitting seats of CPM. In neighbouring Bihar too, the seat-sharing ties between Congress and RJD is on. There are reports of some strains between both parties as Congress is insisting on 11 seats.

Both Bihar and West Bengal has 82 Lok Sabha seats, which are crucial for Opposition bid to upstage BJP from Centre. So far, the Congress has managed seat-sharing agreements in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand.
