Lok Sabha Election 2019: Babul Supriyo has landed himself in trouble after he released a poll jingle targeting Trinamool Congress and its chief Mamata Banerjee. A complaint has been filed against the BJP MP by Paschim Bardhaman Student’s Library Coordination Committee for allegedly making derogatory comments against TMC and Mamata Banerjee in his jingle.

Secretary of the Paschim Bardhaman Student’s Library Coordination Committee, Gourav Gupta, described the song as derogatory and claimed it damages the reputation of TMC and Mamata.

Babul Supriyo, who is Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises in the Modi government, in his song talks about the rise of the BJP in West Bengal while accusing Bengal’s TMC government of corruption.

When asked about the complaint lodged against him, Babul Supriyo said he has just painted the present picture of Bengal in his song. “I haven’t said anything different in the song,” Supriyo said.

The Trinamool Congress has pitted veteran actor Moon Moon Sen against Supriyo from Asansol. Sen won the 2014 Lok Sabha election from Bankura constituency.
