Looking to control the rush during the festive season, Northern Railway has decided to have additional Festival Special Express Trains across the country. These are in addition to a number of more trains announced by the Indian Railways to ease the rush as passengers look to visit their homes during Diwali and Chhath festivals.
Gorakhpur – New Delhi – Gorakhpur
Among the number of trains announced, Northern Railway will run 05065/05066 trains from Gorakhpur Junction – New Delhi – Gorakhpur Junction from November 8, 2023 to November 16, 2023. Trains from both directions will run four trips.
While the 05065 number train from Gorakhpur will run on Wednesdays on November 8, 2023 and November 15, 2023, 05066 train will run from New Delhi on Thursdays on November 9, 2023 and November 16, 2023. Trains from both sides will stop in Khalilabad, Basti, Gonda, Burhwal, Sitapur, Bareilly, Moradabad and Ghaziabad. The train will depart from Gorakhpur at 23:00 and reach New Delhi station the next day at 12 noon. From the opposite direction, the train will depart New Delhi at 14:00 and reach Gorakhpur at 4:15 am the next day.
Gomati Nagar – New Delhi – Chhapra
The Northern Railway will also run 05071/05072 trains from Gomati Nagar – New Delhi – Chhapra junction, which will also have four trips. Train Number 05071 will leave Gomati Nagar on November 9, 2023 and Number 16, 2023, every Thursday. The other train number – 05072 every Friday on November 10, 2023 and November 17, 2023, as per the scheduled time. Both trains consist of AC Two Tier, AC Three Tier, General and Sleeper coaches. Trains will stop at Siwan, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Khalilabad, Basti, Gonda, Barabanki, Gomatinagar, Aishbag, Kanpur Central and Ghaziabad.

Recently, the Delhi Division of Northern Railway had announced the decision to run 327 special train services due to the festive season. Speaking about it, Sukhvinder Singh, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Delhi Division, spoke of the division’s commitment in providing passengers with secure and seamless travel, focussing on their needs and ensuring a joyous as well as safe journey to their destinations.
