Flying to the USA on a student visa, and that too on a scholarship, is a dream for many. After being denied a second US visa for their undergraduate business administration studies, a student took to social media to vent their frustration and ask for guidance. The student was hoping to enrol in college in the Fall 2025 semester after obtaining a full tuition scholarship and being accepted into a better university. The visa interview was held on July 16. They had already been turned down for a student visa in the spring of 2025, so this was their second attempt. “Guys, I am heartbroken. I need your advice or what I could actually improve on,” the student wrote in a heartfelt post.

What happened during the visa interview?

The visa officer enquired about any changes since the previous attempt during the interview. In response, the student stated that they had concentrated on improving their academic record by retaking the SAT and an English proficiency exam, which enabled them to obtain a full scholarship and a better university offer. The student mentioned their family’s business experience and their long-term objective of launching a company in their native country when asked why they chose their degree. After graduating from high school in 2024, they explained the one-year lag by citing a visa rejection in the spring of 2025 and delays in obtaining a passport for the autumn of 2024. To address funding, the student said, “I have got a full tuition scholarship, and the rest of my living expenses are going to be covered by my mom. She owns several well-established retail businesses in cosmetics and jewellery.” Despite these efforts, the visa officer concluded the interview with a denial, stating, “I’m sorry, your visa is denied.”

“Answer only to the questions”

Netizens flooded the reasons for the possible reasons for rejection. A user noted, “You should mention the university and the course here. There are a lot of things we dont know here to help. Was it a top 30 university? Does it have a really high acceptance rate? The career opportunities line clearly signalled work intent which is not allowed on F1 visa. So that might be related.I would not advise applying for a third time. You have already spent a lot in time and money on this. Just do your bachelors here. ” “High scholarship might be the reason of denial I got rejected too my scholarship was 30k us dollar She didn’t even ask me questions and she handed me 214b,” said another.

“I would t be surprised. With the denial rates so high and the shitshow going on in US why do u want to go to US. Should be aiming for other countries where they don’t treat students like criminals,” stated a netizen. “To add something you should have included how much your mom make annually,” said another user. “With a full tuition scholarship from a top 30 university, a visa should be very easy. I’m willing to bet your answers sounded rehearsed or there was something else in your delivery. But it’s hard to give feedback without knowing what country,” said another. “i think the visa was denied due to your answer of the question ‘what have you been doing since’ i think there was a better way to answer it- it just felt like you didn’t even do anything like learn a skill, maybe go to work with parents(you said you come from a business oriented family) idk if you understand,” opined a user.
