Agentic AI which refers to artificial intelligence systems that can make decisions and take actions based on their environment is believed to revolutionise the industries. Recognised as a breakthrough technology by Forrester, Agentic AI is growing rapidly in adoption.

According to Gartner, by 2028, 33% of enterprise applications will feature Agentic AI, a significant leap from less than 1% in 2024. Capgemini also highlights that while just 10% of companies currently use AI agents, a substantial 82% plan to integrate them within the next three years. With investments in AI technologies expected to surpass $749 billion by 2028, the transformative power of Agentic AI is clear.

Unlike AI that merely assists or performs tasks within a defined set of rules (like rule-based systems), agentic AI has a degree of independence in pursuing its objectives. It can adapt to changing situations, learn from experience, and operate without human intervention.

Agentic AI’s applications span across multiple sectors

Customer Service: AI agents elevate customer experiences by providing personalized recommendations, seamless omnichannel support, and proactive sentiment analysis to resolve concerns.

Healthcare: These agents enhance patient care through real-time monitoring, precise diagnoses, and personalized treatment plans. They also accelerate drug discovery and streamline administrative processes.

Finance: In the finance sector, AI agents play a key role in fraud detection, credit assessments, and risk management, while also offering personalized financial advice.

Manufacturing and Supply Chain: AI agents help optimize inventory, enhance workforce management, and reduce production costs, all while boosting efficiency and minimizing errors.

Despite its potential, Agentic AI faces challenges, including labor market shifts, data privacy concerns, and regulatory complexities. To successfully integrate this technology, organisations must develop ethical frameworks, risk management strategies, and human oversight to ensure responsible adoption.

By navigating these challenges, businesses can harness Agentic AI to drive efficiencies, improve decision-making, and gain a competitive edge, positioning themselves as pioneers in an AI-driven world.
