According to Cointelegraph, tech experts across government, academia, and the private sector are working to ensure the world’s data is safe from the impending threat of quantum decryption. It is belived that even if this represents the technological threat side of AI-wrought extinction, there may be some silver linings along the way.

Sources revealed that a quantum computing system could decode RSA encryption, which protects banks and military bases. This is expected to give rise to fraudulent activities in institutions from hackers and spies, added Cointelegraph.

“People got surprised by Gen-AI, and what’s going to happen here is the same thing. At some point, people are going to say, ‘Wow, what a surprise, what a shock, that our cryptography is broken!’” Jack Hidary, CEO, SandboxAQ, explained.

However, an immediate quantum technology is expected to be quantum sensing. With insights from Hidary, quantum sensors could fill in the gaps in GPS, perhaps even thwarting active attempts at obfuscating satellite signals, concluded Cointelegraph.
