Weekends are all about downtime. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Roopak Naresh Gupta, founder, mTap, talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.
What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
For me, ‘not working’ is a relative term. Even when I’m not actively engaged in business tasks, my mind is often occupied with work-related thoughts. To truly disconnect, I engage in activities that demand my full attention and pull me away from work. Whether it’s immersing myself in a good book, cherishing moments with my children, or embracing the freedom of cycling, these experiences help me reset and refocus.
How do you spend your weekends?
A blend of reflection, connection, and preparation defines my weekends. They start with a ritual of diving into a compelling read – be it enlightening blogs or thought-provoking books. This is followed by quality time with loved ones, and yes, the inevitable weekend chores like grocery shopping.
What are your favourite gadgets?
Gadgets come and go, but my smartphone remains a constant companion, streamlining my life in countless ways. However, my current fascination lies with drones. There’s something magical about sending a drone soaring into the sky, capturing the world from a bird’s-eye view – it’s a perspective that never ceases to amaze me.
Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
If I were to choose an alternate path, I’d become a coach. Having grown up in Agra, I understand the challenges of accessing and analyzing information. In today’s digital age, data are abundant, but guidance on making informed decisions is scarce. I find fulfilment in helping others navigate this sea of information to make choices that resonate with their unique journeys.
Which is your favourite vacation spot?
Hawaii’s Big Island is my favourite retreat. The island’s dramatic diversity – from the barren land to lush rainforests – is a microcosm of our planet’s beauty. It’s a place where every mile travelled reveals a new facet of nature’s splendour.
A TV show, a movie, and an ad campaign you highly recommend watching?
For a TV series that expands the mind, I recommend Star Trek: The Next Generation – a timeless exploration of humanity’s potential. On the cinematic front, Sholay remains an evergreen favourite, a film that captures the essence of storytelling. As for an ad campaign, I feel that Cadbury’s Good Luck Girls Campaign is a must-see, celebrating the spirit of perseverance and success.
