Weekends are all about downtime. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Yannick Colaco, co-founder, FanCode, talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.
What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
Spending time with my family and playing with my kids. I also try to take some time to read as that helps me to get my mind off work and relax – currently, I’m reading ‘On Writing by Stephen King’
How do you spend your weekends?
Weekends are usually spent with family – my 7-year-old son loves watching sports, and we both are currently not-so-happy Manchester United fans. My daughter likes going out and exploring new places for breakfast – that’s also my introduction to new restaurants in the city! I do block some dedicated time on the weekend for work, to catch up on stuff I have pending from the week gone by, and in planning for the week ahead
What are your favourite gadgets?
My Kindle for reading and my Audio Technica turntable for listening to LPs over my sound system. Eric Clapton’s Slowhand, Nirvana’s Nevermind and Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue are some of my favourite LPs
Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
It would have to be playing football or basketball professionally. It’s my failure to do this which made me so obsessed with getting into the business of sports.
Which is your favourite vacation spot?
I love beaches and the water. My favourite vacation spots would be my hometown of Goa, Capetown and the Amalfi coast!
A TV show, a movie, and an ad campaign you highly recommend watching
Ted Lasso and Remember the Titans are right on top. On Ad campaigns, I loved the latest Dream11 ‘Team Se Bada Kuch Nahi’ campaign for the IPL where they’ve created a bunch of fantastic ads using familiar names.
