Weekends are all about downtime. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Chirag Gupta, founder and CEO, 4700BC, talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.
What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
When I’m not working, you’ll often find me running. I’m a marathon enthusiast and love challenging myself to go further and faster. Running clears my mind, gives me new energy, and is my way of staying disciplined and focused in life. I’m all about experiences that give me an adrenaline rush—cycling long distances, trying new adventure sports, or going on treks to explore unknown trails. I like pushing my limits and finding new challenges to keep life exciting.
How do you spend your weekends?
My weekends are sacred. They are about three key things:
Family time: My daughter is my priority, and weekends are when I get to be fully present with her.
No distractions: I stay away from my phone as much as possible.
Passion projects: Whether it’s going for a long run, trying new food, or experimenting with new adventures, weekends are my way of recharging and pushing boundaries.
What are your favourite gadgets?
I’m a big fan of tech that simplifies life and helps me stay sharp. My Apple products—iPhone, iPad, and MacBook—are essentials that keep my work organized and ideas flowing. I also love gadgets that track performance, like my smartwatch, which helps me stay on top of my fitness goals. And, of course, WhatsApp is my lifeline for work and personal communication—it’s probably the app I use the most.
Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
I’d love to be an adventure trainer. Helping others train for their first marathon or guiding them through thrilling experiences like hiking or diving would be incredibly rewarding. It’s about sharing the joy of stepping out of your comfort zone and achieving something you didn’t think was possible.
Which is your favorite vacation spot?
Europe. It’s a favorite for all the right reasons. I could travel to Europe every six months and never tire of its charm and variety. My trips often revolve around adventure. I’ve run marathons, explored its mountains, and cycled through its countryside. The mix of history, culture, and opportunities for outdoor activities makes it a place I always want to revisit.
A TV show, a movie, and an ad campaign you highly recommend watching
Movie: The Social Network. It’s raw, intense, and a reminder that crazy ideas can change the world.
TV Show: Brooklyn 99. So I can channelise my inner Holt as captain of my precinct.
Ad Campaign: Guinness – Made of More. It’s not just an ad—it’s a philosophy of living with depth and grit. And closer home, the CRED ads are pure gold for their wit and self-awareness.
