The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) has become a founding member of the newly launched Think Tank of the International Council for Advertising Self-Regulation (ICAS). This initiative is focused on promoting self-regulatory engagement, critical thinking, and research to advance responsible advertising globally.
The Think Tank was launched at an event in New York, bringing together various stakeholders including advertising standards bodies, industry leaders, and academic institutions. Its aim is to collaborate on improving advertising practices, with an initial focus on sustainability and the responsible use of AI. The Think Tank plans to address additional topics as it grows and becomes fully operational.
The initiative aligns with ASCI Academy’s work on thought leadership. Other founding members and supporters of the Think Tank include Ad Standards Australia, Advertising Association (AA UK), Advertising Standards Authority (ASA UK), Advertising Standards Authority Ireland (ASA Ireland), Asociación para la Autorregulación de la Comunicación Comercial (AUTOCONTROL) Spain, Associação Brasileira de Anunciantes (ABA), European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA), and Google.
ASCI will collaborate with these partners to discuss new ideas and best practices aimed at benefiting the industry and enhancing consumer protection.
“ASCI via its ASCI Academy is very honoured to be a founding member of the ICAS Global Think Tank. As issues around advertising regulation get more complex, it is important that we all put together our minds and resources to support this initiative. We look forward to meaningful discussions and outcomes that will help build consumer trust and confidence in brands and advertising,” Manisha Kapoor, CEO and Seceretary General, ASCI and ICAS Vice President, said.
