The much-anticipated direct flight from Pune to Bangkok, originally slated to start on October 27, has now been postponed to November 22.

Last month, Pune airport officials announced that a daily Pune-Dubai flight and a thrice-weekly Pune-Bangkok flight would kick off from October 27. Union Minister of State for Aviation Murlidhar Mohol had also confirmed the same on his X account on September 19.

However, IndiGo has now revised the Pune-Bangkok schedule, with the flight operating thrice a week to cater to both business and leisure travelers. Passengers can already book tickets online for this new service.

Pune Airport Director, Santosh Dhoke, said the shift in schedule aims to attract more passengers and make them aware of the new route. “The last time another airline launched flights to Bangkok, they unfortunately had to suspend the service due to low passenger occupancy. To avoid a similar situation, the airline has changed its schedule, and the flights are expected to begin on November 22,” said Dhoke.

The Pune-Bangkok flight will depart on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 11.10 pm, arriving in Bangkok at 4.45 am. The return flight from Bangkok will operate on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, departing at 1.15 am and landing in Pune at 4:15 am.

Currently, Pune airport offers two direct international flights — a long-standing SpiceJet service to Dubai and a Vistara flight to Singapore that launched in December 2023.

SpiceJet had earlier introduced the Pune-Bangkok route in 2013 but discontinued it in 2014. The airline made another attempt in 2022, but the route failed to take off.
