Winter fog could disrupt air travel on Sunday, with Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet issuing travel advisories for January 11, warning of poor visibility in several cities, and appealing to passengers to track flight updates before heading for the airport.
Air India issued a warning about poor visibility in multiple cities
In its official post on X (formerly Twitter), Air India stated that “poor visibility because of fog is predicted tomorrow morning” in parts of Northern India, including Udaipur, Chandigarh, Varanasi, Amritsar, Jammu, and Delhi. The airline stated that the conditions “may have an impact on flight schedules across the network.”
Air India added that it “continues to remain vigilant” and has taken “proactive steps to mitigate fog-related disruptions.” It also mentioned that in the event of “delays, diversions, or cancellations,” its ground team will remain available “round the clock to extend assistance.” Passengers were advised to check flight status on the airline’s website before heading to the airport. Air India also thanked travellers for their patience and understanding. It also highlighted that the safety and well-being of guests and crew continue to be its top priority.

IndiGo also alerted about impacting operations
IndiGo, in its travel advisory, stated that early morning fog is predicted to affect visibility across Delhi, Patna, Dehradun, Jaipur, Kanpur, Chandigarh, Varanasi, Hindon, Jammu, Lucknow and Udaipur Airport. It warned that “during these hours, visibility can reduce suddenly, impacting flight operations.”
The airline assured that its teams will remain “fully prepared” throughout the night, closely monitoring the weather minute by minute. Acknowledging passenger inconvenience, IndiGo stated, ‘We understand that waiting is never easy,” while appreciating travellers’ patience through “seasonal disruptions.” It has also appealed to the flyers to check their flight status before leaving for the airport and mentioned that impacted passengers can choose another option or claim a refund through its online channel.

SpiceJet issues a warning for the arrival and departure of flights
In a similar note, SpiceJet has also issued a travel advisory for 11th January, citing bad weather and poor visibility in Delhi (DEL), Jammu (IXJ), Gorakhpur (GOP), Varanasi (VNS), Patna (PAT), Guwahati (GAU), Ayodhya (AYJ), Darbhanga (DBR), Srinagar (SXR), and Bagdora (IXB). It also cautioned that “all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may get impacted.” In another update, SpiceJet reinstated that bad weather in Delhi could disrupt flights and asked passengers to keep a tab on their flight status through its website.
