Karnataka capital Bengaluru will be witnessing a bandh today in a protest against the release of Cauvery water to the neighbouring state Tamil Nadu. This will be the first of the two bandhs called this week in Karnataka. Another bandh has been called for September 29, Friday.
Keeping in mind the bandh, several airlines have issued advisories for their passengers.
India’s leading airline IndiGo took to X, formerly Twitter, to advise its passengers to arrive at the airport at least 2.5 hours before domestic and 3.5 hours before international departures. It said that travel time to the Bengaluru airport may take longer than usual due to the bandh declared in the city.
While sharing its advisory for passengers, Akasa Air asked them to plan for extra travel time and reach the airport at least 3 hours prior to their departure. It added that public transport facilities in the city could be affected by the bandh. “In case you choose not to travel to or from Bengaluru on 26 Sep 2023, you may request to be rebooked on an alternate, available flight at no additional cost, by calling our Akasa Care Centre on +91 9606 112131,” it added.
Vistara too released an advisory on the bandh saying the public transport in the city could be affected and advised passengers to keep more time in hand for their journey to the airport.
Similarly, SpiceJet said the bandh could lead to local transport facilities being affected on Tuesday. “Passengers are advised to allow sufficient time for their journey and report at least 180 minutes prior to the departure time to avoid any last-minute hassle,” it tweeted.
