In a recent interaction with a publication, Rajiv Bajaj, Bajaj Auto CEO, confirmed the launch of the biggest Pulsar ever, but didn’t disclose any specific details regarding the motorcycle. We earlier assumed that the upcoming flagship Pulsar will cater to the 400cc segment and looks like our prediction has come true.
The latest media report has revealed that Bajaj will be launching its flagship Pulsar sometime next year, and it will be called NS400. As the name gives away, the biggest Pulsar will be a naked streetfighter and will sit on top of the quarter-litre Pulsar siblings– N250 and F250. The report indicates a possible launch in the second quarter of 2024.
Bajaj Pulsar NS400: Expected details
We expect the upcoming NS400 to have a design similar to the Pulsar NS200. This would mean it could offer a sporty design with sharp styling courtesy of tank shrouds up front, and a sleek tail section. Even most of its dimensions, barring the weight, will also be around the same ballpark as the Pulsar NS200.
The NS400 will be underpinned by the same architecture as the NS200 but the platform will be strengthened to handle the extra displacement and output of the engine. Despite the addition of mass to strengthen the architecture, the upcoming Pulsar NS400 is likely to be lighter than Dominar 400 which tips the weighing scales at 193 kg.
Bajaj Pulsar NS400: Expected engine specs
Bajaj currently manufactures three engines for the 400cc motorcycle market in the country including the older 373cc liquid-cooled unit used in the Dominar 400, a new 398cc liquid-cooled unit developed by Triumph and the latest 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor powering the recently launched third-gen KTM Duke. In all likelihood, Bajaj will opt for the existing Dominar engine for the upcoming flagship Pulsar.
This single-cylinder liquid-cooled mill kicks out 39.4 bhp and 35 Nm of peak torque while being paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch. Like the NS200, the upcoming Pulsar NS400 is also expected to feature premium equipment and hardware including upside down front forks.
