Western Consolidated Pvt Ltd, a leading Kolkata-based generator manufacturer, is in the process of setting up a plant in Sitargunj, Uttaranchal.
The company, which makes generators with capacities ranging from 3.5 kva to 600 kva based on engines sourced from Kirloskar Oil Engines, has two other plants: at Maheshtalla near Kolkata and at Daman.
The company will invest Rs 20 crore in its Sitargunj plant and is in the process of modernising its Maheshtalla plant at an investment of about Rs 5-7 crore, managing director Vineet Dhingra said.
“With growth in the mobile telecommunication industry and the retail sector, we expect demand for gensets to grow exponentially,” Dhingra said.
The total market size for gensets in the country is about one lakh units a year, of which Western Consolidated makes 3,500 units. It is likely to touch 8,000 after the expansion project is completed.
