Tinplate Company of India Ltd (TCIL) has won the CII-Exim Bank prize for business excellence for 2008.
The prize and citation was received by TCIL managing director BL Raina and chief divisional manager (business excellence) Ranjit Sinha at the Confederation Indian Industry’s 16th Quality Summit held at Bangalore.
The citation recognizes TCIL’s transformation from being a ‘tinplate producer’ to a ‘packaging solution provider’ and its leadership for adopting the excellence framework to transform its processes, people and strategy to achieve market leadership in the country with a potential to make a mark in global market.
Raina said the prize is a lifetime achievement for the people of TCIL, adding that the recognition would further spur and re-energize the company in its journey towards business excellence.
The award was given away by former director-general-CII and special advisor CII-IQ, N Srinivasan and chairman & managing director, EXIM Bank of India, TC Venkat Subramanian.
