Most searched actor on Google: Let’s face it, India loves to get entertained. And India loves its film stars – Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan or among the female stars, Sunny Leone, Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor…. And when news breaks, or people just want to know a juicy tidbit about their favourite star, they turn to Google search. The omnipresent search engine delivers the daily, or hourly fix that the people are craving for, on demand. And that puts it in a powerful position to map Indian habits.
Well, since sorting through the data is a Google speciality, it went through its paces to deliver another piece of information – what is India searching for when it concerns its superstar actors, in short – most searched actor on Google.
And it has delved deep into the data, going as far back as 10 years (between 2006-2016), to reveal the names and provide the ranking thereof – in short, whom does India love the best, the real No. 1.

Without much ado, here it is: the most searched actor on Google is Salman Khan and, amongst actresses, Sunny Leone – was there any surprise in that? Unlikely, as Salman Khan has been in the news constantly, for the right and the wrong reasons throughout the last decade and even now, in real time, he is ruling the cinemas and topping the box office collections charts while at the same time fuelling the ‘raped woman’ controversy one and the same time!
