Mr. Uday Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director at Tanla Solutions commented on the results; ?Last quarter?s result validates our view of a muted impact of the recent global slowdown on the mobile market in geographies of our operation. We have also got a significant boost from our domestic revenues and our new Mobile Payments vertical.?

Tanla Mobile, a Tanla Solutions subsidiary continues to be the growth driver and works in partnership with global mobile operators across UK and Asia, Spain and South Africa. The mobile market in both UK and new geographies like India remain resilient to recent economic upheavals. Vodafone and O2, UK?s top 2 operators continue to see robust growth in non voice revenues. For Vodafone, Service revenue has increased by 2.1% due to 31.0% growth in data revenue and 13.5% growth in messaging revenues. Overall ARPU declined by 4% and voice ARPU decreased by around 10% but data ARPU grew at 13%. In Telefonica O2?s case, Data ARPU was 12.1% higher year-on-year in the second quarter , driven by growth in text message volumes (+41.4% year-on-year), as well as increasing usage of mobile Internet, with growth in non-SMS revenues of 46.1% year-on-year.

In Q2 Tanla?s Mobile Payments performance highlighted the increasing global shipments of smart and feature phones. License Manager installations from Tanla OY were close to 6 million handsets with September alone doing close to 3 million. All smart phones being sold by manufacturers like Nokia carry Tanla?s mobile application rights management product. This service is now available in India through Tanla?s tie up with Airtel and would shortly be rolled out with other operators. Globally however its services are available in over 150 countries and more recently in Spain and South Africa. In addition globally all phone billing through Premium SMS for mobile applications are being done on Tanla?s aggregator platform across the globe and has been launched commercially on Airtel, the leading Telecom Operator of India during this Quarter.

Emerging markets like India too have shown healthy trends in mobile services. In September alone, there was a record 10 Million subscriber addition with the total mobile subscriber figure crossing the 300 Million milestone.

Tanla?s Indian operations continued to establish business across operator products and tie ups and launch of our global suite of products. Mr. Uday Reddy added ?I am pleased to share that on completion of successful trials Tanla is set to become the first Indian company to offer 3G products and applications capable of high-speed video streaming and Video calling to MTNL and Dialog in Sri Lanka.?
