Railway minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday said her ministry will not tolerate any form of corruption and stern action will be taken against those who are found guilty. Her statement came a day after CBI arrested eight people, including the son of Mumbai Railway Recruitment Board chief SM Sharma, in connection with the multi-crore ?job-for-sale? scam.

?Taking bribe is a crime and we will not tolerate any such offence. We have stepped up vigilance and any one found guilty of corruption will not be spared,? she said. Banerjee was present at a function to flag off two local trains in the Sealdah division. Later she also inaugurated the ground breaking ceremony for the nursing college at Majherhat.

Meanwhile, Banerjee has asked railway board members to look for ways to minimise outsourcing of components required for coach manufacturing. ?We are importing parts for coaches from countries like US and Australia. I have asked board members to think of ways so that we can manufacture components in India.?

According to Banerjee, Vision 2020, a ten-year plan of her ministry, will be able to cater to the demands of the railways for the next two decades. We are trying to set up 10 more coach and wagon manufacturing factories so that coaches can be built indigenously.
