Reliance BIG TV Limited on Wednesday announced the launch of subscription video on demand Direct To Home (DTH) service through 122 company branded outlets across Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
Arun Kumar, CEO, Big TV claimed that on BIG TV DTH, customers can watch 600 new movies every year, virtually converting every TV set into a 32 Screen, 24×7 multiplex with fully digital picture and sound experience. BIG TV DTH also launched 32 new movie channels including English, Hindi and regional movie channels exclusively for BIG TV customers, over and above the movie channels already available on existing options.
To a question, he told FE on phone DTH could get a real boost once Government implements condition access system (CAS) effectively. He said three major territories where CAS had been implemented have seen significant growth in DTH.
He claimed that using the worlds most advanced MPEG 4 technology, a generation ahead of MPEG 2 platform used by other DTH operators; BIG TV DTH offers over 200 TV, cinema and audio channels, the largest by any DTH or cable operator in the country. He said BIG TV DTH service would be available at retail outlets, including Reliance World and Reliance Mobile Stores. The service would be available at 7622 outlets, including 122 Reliance branded outlets across Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal and J&K. The country?s largest distribution and customer service infrastructure for home entertainment service built by BIG TV DTH enables it to serve over 5 million new customers every year.
The customer service and support infrastructure comprises of an army of 5,400 specially trained installers, capable of installing over 15,000 connections daily and within 48-72 hours of every customer order.
