Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi said upcoming industrial projects should take care of the displaced people. He said that projects should be designed in a way to benefit people living around.

However, while addressing the workers of National Aluminium Company Ltd (Nalco) at Angul smelter plant, Gandhi encouraged the establishment of bigger and efficient plants in Orissa. The meeting was organised by the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) to express gratitude to Gandhi on Nalco being accorded Navaratna status. Gandhi assured the workers a month ago that the company will soon be given the Navaratna status.

The meeting was attended by Union minister and Congress general secretary in Orissa AjayaMekan, INTUC leader and Rajya Sabha MP Rama Chandhara Khuntia, and former union minister KP Singdeo.

Gandhi also addressed a meeting of tribal youth leaders at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium at Cuttack. He was accompanied by youth Congress leader Ashok Tanwar and Orissa Congress president Jayadev Jena. Over 600 tribal youth leaders attended the meeting.
