1The job: Building a business offers a lot of exciting, new experiences every day. It?s a great feeling to see your vision being translated into reality bit by bit. The little daily successes keep renewing my motivation and keep me charged up for more. Evolving consumer behaviour is another area that helps me to stay on top of my game. It creates the need to constantly think out-of-the-box and challenge oneself to strategise in order to create a distinct niche in the market.
At the same time, the operational and administrative aspects are not something I like. These are indispensable for the smooth functioning of the business but as a creative person I find maintaining routine office documents such as bills, tax files, payment vouchers, vendor contracts, etc., very mundane. These aspects are quite time consuming and cumbersome and frankly quite a big deal for someone like me.
2The weekdays: A normal working day for me starts at 8.15 am and stretches on till about 7:30 pm. It begins with the rudimentary stuff like documentation, team meetings, discussions on daily targets, etc. Conference calls with clients, senior management meetings, strategy planning, team updates and monthly target analysis form a regular part of the weekdays. I do take an hour off for lunch. This helps me unwind and gear up for the rest of the day. We usually wind up the work day with a closure report on what is pending and what needs to be done over the next couple of days.
3The weekend: My weekends are dedicated to my family. Spending time with my two kids is my favourite form of recreation. I wake up early on weekends to make full use of every minute. We all have breakfast together and sit and chat at leisure. Usually we do something special for lunch and in the evening I play squash. At night, I make it a point to take my family out for a movie, dinner or a short drive. Not only are these activities immensely enjoyable for me, they also bring the family closer and help us bond better.
4The toys: I can?t do without my iPad. It?s my constant entertainment provider, be it for reading or watching movies.
