A delegation headed by the Canara Bank chairman and managing director, MBN Rao representing the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) will be meet the finance minister, P Chidambaram on Friday. Among the major issues that are likely to come up for discussions are those related to non-performing assets (NPAs), agricultural lending and financial inclusion.
Talking to FE, the chief executive officer of IBA, HN Sinor, said: ?While the NPAs, of most public sector banks was at a comfortable level of 3% of the total assets, the finance minister would be briefed about the NPA management strategies being adopted by various banks.? Other issues that would come up for discussions are restructuring of distressed farmer-loans, new branch expansion programmes and lending to minorities, Sinor added.
