After a remarkable entry into the Rs 100 cr club, the Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Toilet Ek Prem Katha is now heading well on its way to enter into the Rs 200 crore club – worldwide. After an impressive opening day response on August 11, the movie has gathered some good response from both critics and audience. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Toilet Ek Prem Katha so far has done a business of Rs 159.79 cr (GROSS) in India and has managed to rake in Rs 24.32 in overseas market. The overall business of the movie has touched Rs 184.11 cr. In India the movie has released across 2900-3000 screen whereas overseas it has featured on a total of 590 screens.

The report also states the Akshay Kumar starrer currently stands as Bollywood’s fifth highest worldwide grosser of the year. The movie has successfully managed to develop a strong foothold in the second week, overshadowing other releases clashing with it. Even Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh shared the total earnings of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and wrote, “#ToiletEkPremKatha Week 1: ₹ 96.05 cr; Weekend 2: ₹ 19 cr; Total: ₹ 115.05 cr; India biz. #TEPK.”

Adarsh also mentioned that Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is all set to challenge the lifetime business of Rowdy Rathore which is so far Akshay Kumar’s highest grosser. He also mentioned that it is Akshay’s eighth movie to enter into the Rs 100 cr club.

Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India campaign), the movie also stars Dum Laga Ke Haishaa fame Bhumi Pednekar along with Anupam Kher, Divyendu Sharma, Sudhir Pandey, Rajesh Sharma, Shubha Khote, Sachin Khedekar and Sana Khan.
