In order to register a decent growth in the passenger load factor after the winter holidays are over, low cost airline SpiceJet and full- service carrier Jet Airways have started to offer significant discounts in the base price of the tickets on major domestic and international routes.
Usually, airlines face a lull period from the middle of January after the winter holidays are over. As part of its four day Happy New Year sale which started on December 28, Gurgaon-based SpiceJet is offering tickets with base fares starting from Rs 716 on select domestic routes.
The four-day sale launched on Monday will be open till midnight, December 31 and the travel period covered in this sale is from 15 January to 12 April 2016 and is valid only for travel on direct flights on airlines domestic network.
Full service airlines like Jet Airways, as part of the Christmas and New Year offers, is offering flat 10% discount on base fares of international flights in the first class, premier and economy routes. Passenger can avail the discounts if they purchase the tickets from the airlines’ website and mobile application.
During the sale period of December 25 to 29 2015, passengers flying between India and destinations in ASEAN and SAARC regions will get 10% discount on base fares with travel effective January 11, 2016 onwards.
“Guests will now be able to plan and schedule their travel much in advance and benefit from these special fares. These special festive fares will allow guests to experience our award winning services, its extensive network, flexible schedules and enhanced connectivity at attractive fares,” said Gaurang Shetty, senior vice president, commercial, Jet Airways.
During the same period, the Mumbai-based full service airline is offering a discount of Canadian Dollar 30 on base fares of flights operated by the airline to Canada and 10% discount on base fares on flights to Paris.
