US tragedies keep piling up! In yet another unprecedented development, at least three people were left wounded in separate shooting incidents near the Dominican Day Parade route in Bronx, New York, on Sunday. All three instances happened within the mere span of an hour, according to US reports.
Additionally, a person was stabbed after the US parade on Grand Concourse. The victims was reportedly a 19 years old and brutally struck in the hip.
According to the police’s statement, the shootings began with a 24-year-old man being struck in the buttocks on Grand Concourse on Elliot Avenue, as quoted by the New York Post. Just over half an hour later, a 19-year-old woman was hit in the ankle at 170th Street and Sheridan Avenue in the vicinity of the previous shooting site.
The third shooting victim was a 23-year-old man who was shot in the stomach on Noble Avenue around 7:15 pm. This particular incident transpired on the other side of the Bronx.
In the aftermath, all victims were transported to local hospitals. They are believed to be in stable conditions.

Anti-gun violence stance flipped upside down in NYC
What emerged as the most unfortunate development was the fact that these heart-breaking incidents happened the same day Mayor Eric Adams joined other leaders at the 42 Precinct to celebrate a landmark achievement against gun violence in New York City. “Just since the start of this year, the NYPD has already moved over 3,000 illegal guns off our street,” he said Sunday, as per ABC7.
At the time of writing, it was unclear whether the violent incidents were connected. Arrests were also yet to be made in either case.
Netizens took to social media to voice their heartbreak and condemn the NYC horrors. Someone even proposed the Dominican Day Parade be cancelled altogether.
The suggestion particularly comes from a place of concern, especially since a similar chaos broke out at last year’s event. The NYPD had no choice but to shut down the procession as the crowd lost all composure in an attempt to come closer to celebrity-marked floats at the scene. The situation devolved even further as a teen ended up attacking a 65-year-old, taking aim at their face with a knife.
