Former US President Donald Trump is set to hold his first rally on Saturday following an assassination attempt he survived just one week ago. This rally will also be his first since solidifying his control over the Republican Party at the recent nominating convention.

Trump will appear in Grand Rapids, a key city in the battleground state of Michigan, alongside his new vice presidential pick, Ohio US Senator J.D. Vance. This event marks their first campaign appearance together as the official Republican presidential ticket.

This rally will be an indoor event, unlike the one in Butler, Pennsylvania, which was outdoors.

The US Secret Service, which is responsible for protecting Trump, has refused to give information on the security arrangements at the event. An investigation is under way into the security failures at the Butler rally.

“The Secret Service does not discuss the means and methods used for our protective operations,” the agency said.
