Singer Cassie Ventura revealed in court that Sean “Diddy” Combs used secret aliases like “Frank White” and “Frank Black” during their relationship, accusing the music mogul of long-term abuse and coercion. Ventura stated that Combs used names like “Frank White” and “Frank Black” when booking hotel rooms for events he allegedly called “freak offs.” She said her own alias was “Jackie Star,” according to CNN.

Allegations of physical abuse

Ventura’s testimony included graphic descriptions of violent behaviour. “He would smash me in my head, knock me over, drag me, kick me, stomp me in the head if I was down,” she said on the second day of the trial. When asked how many times Combs had beaten her, she responded, “Too many to count. I don’t know.” Combs’ attorneys have acknowledged that some of his past behavior was inappropriate but argue that it does not meet the legal threshold for criminal coercion or human trafficking. They maintain that while the relationship may have had troubling elements, it was not criminal in nature.

Possible meaning behind the aliases

Though the reasons for choosing the names “Frank White” and “Frank Black” are not fully known, there are cultural references that may provide context. In his song “I Need a Girl (Part Two)”, Combs raps, “My advice is forget the limelight. Let’s make love, while we listen to Frank White.” The name “Frank White” also originates from the 1990 film ‘King of New York’, in which Christopher Walken plays a ruthless gangster trying to redeem himself after prison. The alias has also been associated with rapper Biggie Smalls, a close associate of Combs, who adopted the name “Frank White” in his music.
