Days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s anticipated visit to Kyiv, India has reaffirmed its commitment to contributing towards a peaceful resolution of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Modi is set to travel to the Ukrainian capital on August 23 for crucial discussions with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

At a media briefing on Monday, Tanmaya Lal, Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), emphasized India’s stance on diplomacy and dialogue as essential tools for conflict resolution. “India has always advocated for diplomatic solutions and dialogue to address the Ukraine conflict,” Lal stated. The conflict will be a key topic during Modi’s visit.

Highlighting India’s balanced foreign policy, Lal noted that India maintains independent and constructive relations with both Russia and Ukraine. Modi’s visit to Kyiv follows a stop in Poland, underscoring India’s strategic engagement with the region.

India’s offer to assist in peace efforts reflects its broader commitment to global stability and diplomatic solutions in international conflicts. As Modi prepares for his high-profile visit, the international community watches closely to see how India’s involvement may influence the path towards resolving the Ukraine crisis.
