US President Joe Biden touched down in Tel Aviv on Wednesday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was at the Ben Gurion Airport to receive the US President. The visit comes amid the ongoing Israel-Gaza war. President Biden expressed his solidarity with Israel as he embraced Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog on the tarmac. A large security contingent was present at the airport. The leaders spoke briefly at on the tarmac before departing in a convoy. Biden’s visit comes a day after 500 people were killed in a blast at a hospital in Gaza city.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X expressing his anguish over the attack on Gaza hospital. Condemning the attack, PM Modi said, “Those involved should be held responsible.”

Addressing a joint press conference in Tel Aviv, Netanyahu said, “Hamas is butchering children.” He also said that Hamas was worse than ISIS. Pledging his support, Biden said that the US would make sure that Israel has the right to protect itself. He also said that Hamas attack makes ISIS look rational. Talking about the Gaza hospital attack, Biden said that from what he has seen, the attack was caused by “the other side.”

The Gaza Health Ministry, under Hamas control, attributed the destruction to an Israeli airstrike. In contrast, the Israeli military refuted this claim, pointing the blame at a misfired rocket from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, another militant group. However, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad also disavowed any involvement in the incident. As a result of the hospital explosion, President Biden’s planned visit to Jordan, which was supposed to follow his stop in Israel, was canceled.
