US Vice President JD Vance in an interview with Fox News on Thursday called on Pakistan to cooperate with India after the deadly terrorist attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam which killed 26 individuals, mostly tourists, on April 22. “We hope, frankly, that Pakistan, to the extent that they’re responsible, cooperates with India to ensure that the terrorists sometimes operating from their territory are hunted down and dealt with,” Vance said.

Vance further added that he is hopeful that India will act with caution in this difficult time so that a “broader regional conflict” can be avoided. The US VP had visited India with his family from April 21-24.

The terrorist attack in Pahalgam took place on the second day of JD Vance’s visit to India. In response, he expressed sympathy for those affected, stating on social media that he and his wife, Usha, were deeply saddened by the tragedy. He noted that during their visit, they had been moved by the beauty of India and the warmth of its people, and offered their thoughts and prayers to those grieving the loss caused by the attack.

During the interview, Vance openly expressed his concern over the rising tensions between India and Pakistan, especially given that both nations possess nuclear weapons. He said that the United States has been in close contact with both countries following the Pahalgam terror attack.
