Pro-Palestinian activists have vandalised former US President Donald Trump’s Turnberry golf resort in Scotland, condemning his proposal to remove Gaza’s Palestinian population.
Overnight, activists painted “Gaza Is Not For Sale” in large letters on the lawn of the southwest Scotland course and used red spray paint on the clubhouse exterior. The action was claimed by the group Palestine Action, which accused Trump of treating Gaza as his own property.
“To make that clear, we have shown him that his own property is not safe from acts of resistance,” the group said in a statement.
Police Scotland confirmed receiving a report about the vandalism in the early hours of Saturday, stating that investigations are ongoing.
Trump has suggested permanently resettling Gaza’s population elsewhere while allowing the US to take control of the territory for redevelopment; an idea widely rejected by Palestinians. His remarks come as uncertainty looms over the next phase of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, with no clear agreement in place.
Turnberry, one of the 10 courses eligible to host The British Open, has not staged the major championship since Trump acquired it in 2014 and made renovations.
