British Ambassador Lindy Cameron has hailed the partnership between India and the United Kingdom amid tariff tension with the United States, which will reportedly impact India’s GDP by 1 per cent.

Cameron, while sharing a picture of PM Modi with the UK PM Keir Starmer, said the goal behind UK-India Vision 2035 is “simple”. Wondering what it is? Well, it is, as she said, “to grow together with India”.

“With people and economic prosperity at the heart of our strategic vision, we’ve upped our ambition to deliver transformative opportunities and tangible benefits for both countries,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter), before listing what the India-UK partnership would look like in the next 10 years.

1- By growing economies

Cameron said that the partnership aims to grow economies together, and for that, they have a “free trade deal at the centre”.

“Our bold economic partnership, with the free trade deal at the centre, will drive sustainable growth, unlock investment, and create jobs across both countries – with businesses already exploring new opportunities!” Cameron said while sharing a picture of herself enjoying food with Union Minister Piyush Goyal.

2- Building on technology

Next, she said, both countries are building on technologies like artificial intelligence and life-saving vaccines. “The UK and India are unstoppable when we work together,” she added.

She further said that, building on the partnership between the two countries, both are harnessing the “power of tech” for a “better tomorrow”.

3- Cutting-edge research in defence

While sharing a picture with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, she said that both India and the UK are also eyeing the “cutting-edge research” in defence.

“Over the next decade, our Defence Industrial Roadmap will strengthen our living bridge, expand engagements between our armed forces and promote cutting-edge research in defence innovations,” she said.

4- Climate and clean energy partnership

Cameron also shared a picture of Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero Ed Miliband, with the words: “We only have one liveable planet, and we’re committed to keeping it that way.”

“By bringing together the best of what the UK and India have to offer, our climate and clean energy partnership will set the blueprint on the global climate agenda, proving that climate action and economic growth can go hand-in-hand,” she added.

5- UK universities in India

Talking about education, she said that seven world-class universities from the United Kingdom are launching their campuses in India, adding that more would be launched in the coming days.

“Together, we’re nurturing the next generation of global talent. The UK is proud to be among India’s preferred partners in delivering mutual growth and impact,” she wrote, while highlighting India’s National Education Policy 2020.

“The UK-India Vision 2035 is a pathway for shared prosperity, resilience, and leadership,” she declared.

She ended the solidarity post with a picture of herself greeting PM Modi with folded hands.
