The data engineer, who works in a niche technology role at a non-WITCH consultancy in Chennai, resigned in August after receiving an offer from Oracle Financial Services Software (OFSS) with a 35% hike. The user had previously joined their current company 1.4 years ago from a WITCH organisation and has been enjoying good work-life balance, a supportive manager, and a positive work culture despite working the afternoon shift from 2 PM to 12 AM IST.

Strong Ties with Current Employer

“I had a extremely well client review and had a high dependency on me. Since I also work on niche tech I had good visibility in management,” the Redditor wrote. Following the resignation, higher management contacted them to withdraw the resignation and match the Oracle offer. “I turned it down citing the timings and my already existing health issue. I also told them that I was not resigning because of the pay but my primary reason was the timings and 3 day RTO policy next year,” the user added. The director later reached out personally to discuss the resignation, but the user politely declined, stating, “Making an exception for me might set a bad precedence for the team.”

Oracle Restructuring Sparks Second Thoughts

Recent news about Oracle’s restructuring and a reduction in the notice period to 30 days has left the user second-guessing their decision. “This does not sit right with me. Further, they restructured the offer to reducing the notice period to 30 days which I assume is because they don’t have to pay 3 months severance in case if I am laid off,” the user explained. Although they have other offers with up to a 50% hike, all require relocation. They are now considering whether it’s feasible to revoke their resignation, despite having already declined their current employer’s counteroffer.
