A California man, devastated by the Pacific Palisades wildfire, experienced a touching reunion with his missing dog, Oreo, after five agonizing days of uncertainty. The emotional moment unfolded on Sunday when Casey Colvin discovered his beloved pet alive among the charred remains of a neighbor’s property.

Heartwarming Moment Captured on Video

Colvin, overwhelmed with joy and disbelief, called out to Oreo, who was hiding behind a gate. The dog, emerging from the devastation, trotted toward him and slipped under the barrier before being scooped up into Colvin’s arms. “Oh, honey, you’re alive!” Colvin exclaimed, his voice filled with emotion. Running into the street, he shouted “Woo!” in jubilation, spinning around with Oreo safely in his arms. The heartfelt moment was captured on video, as Colvin expressed his gratitude to the community that helped in the search, especially Liz Kreutz, who played a pivotal role.

The ordeal began on Tuesday, when Colvin, who was at work when the evacuation orders were issued, faced hours of traffic in an attempt to return home and rescue his pets. Unfortunately, by the time he arrived, access to his property had been blocked. A compassionate firefighter noticed Colvin’s distress and, seeing his desperation, entered the house to rescue one of his dogs, Tika Tika Tika. However, Oreo remained unaccounted for, and Colvin’s home was ultimately destroyed in the fire.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of Liz Kreutz, a member of the local community, Colvin’s search for Oreo gained traction. Kreutz shared Colvin’s story on social media, rallying people to help locate the missing dog. Her outreach ultimately led to Oreo being found, and Colvin was notified of the reunion.

While Colvin’s home and possessions were lost in the wildfire, the return of Oreo provided a rare, much-needed moment of relief and joy amidst the tragedy. The reunion serves as a testament to the strength of community bonds during times of crisis, as well as the enduring hope for recovery, even in the face of overwhelming loss.
