Mahanaaryaman Scindia has been unanimously elected as the new president of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA), making history as the youngest person ever to hold the position at just 29 years of age.
The role has long been in the Scindia family’s legacy. His grandfather, Madhavrao Scindia, took charge of the association at the age of 37, followed by his father, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who assumed the post at 35.
‘It’s an emotional moment for me’
Interestingly, he becomes the third person to head a cricket body without ever playing the sport, after Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah and Arun Jaitley’s son Rohan Jaitley.
He took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the news. “Honoured to take charge as President of MPCA. With the blessings of my elders and the support of the cricketing family, I look forward to working together to nurture talent and strengthen the legacy of Madhya Pradesh cricket,” Mahanaaryaman wrote on X.
“It’s an emotional moment… My grandfather and father both served this association. MPCA is a family,” Mahanaaryaman told reporters, before adding, Decisions are taken together. I will try to promote cricket at the rural level and create more opportunities for daughters in the game.”
