Rich Dad Poor Dad author Robert Kiyosaki shared a post on social media where he explained why a “few really really rich people are getting poorer”. He said that some of the world’s wealthiest people are facing bankruptcy, suggesting that they could use the ongoing “financial crisis” to become “healthier and wealthier” by becoming, what he said, wiser.
In his post dated April 27 on X (formerly Twitter), he asked, “Why are a few really, really rich people… getting poorer?” He answered it by pointing to the struggles of franchise owners, saying, “A few really rich people own McDonald’s and Burger King franchise…franchises with multiple stores… The problem is that the franchise stores are going bankrupt.”
He went on to explain the key reason behind the bankruptcy: “One reason is that today’s poor cannot afford to eat at McDonald’s or Burger King.”
The 78-year-old went on to suggest that, in a way, this could be good for the poor. He noted that since fast food has become too expensive, more people might turn to healthier options like apples and kale. However, he expressed, “Inflation is causing even the richest…to become poorer.”
Kiyosaki recalled that he had previously warned that a major potato supplier for McDonald’s had gone bankrupt because “poor people eat fewer French Fries”. Now, he added, even franchise owners are failing, which he described as an “unhealthy” sign for the economy.
“Please use this financial crisis to become healthier, wealthier….by becoming wiser,” he advised people to make the most of the situation.
The founder of the Rich Dad company, who once boasted about having over $1 billion in debt hanging over his head, further said, “As I have said many times…in a world of fake money and fake teachers…. ‘Knowledge is the new money’. That is why there is no real financial education in our schools….”
He also mentioned US President Donald Trump and his “patriotic friend”, who is the world’s richest person, Elon Musk, in his post. “And that is why President Trump and Elon Musk are shutting down the ‘Marxist’ Department of Education.”
