Following India’s Operation Sindoor, many pro-Pakistani social media accounts have become quite active to spread misinformation, primarily false claims that the Pakistani Army downed Indian jets with old videos and photos as “evidence” to substantiate their claims. One such video falsely claims that Pakistan struck a military base in Amritsar, resulting in numerous casualties. In reality, the news is FAKE, and the video in question is old and unrelated.
Operation Sindoor: Did Pakistan strike military base in Amritsar?
PIB’s fact-checking wing debunked the claim, writing, “Pakistan Propaganda Alert!”.
It clarified, “Pakistan-based handles are spreading old videos falsely alleging strikes on a military base in Amritsar.”
“The video being shared is from a wildfire from 2024,” it noted.
What’s more, the video isn’t even from India – it actually shows a wildfire in Chile that lit up the night sky with flames. The video shows fires blazing near a highway at night.

After fact-checking it, PIB urged people to “avoid sharing unverified information and rely only on official sources from the Government of India for accurate information”.
The same video was also shared by a person associated with the BJP, claiming that he has been sharing live footage from Sialkot. However, the claim is UNRELATED and FALSE.

This, however, is not the first time that the video was shared with false claims. Last year, social media was flooded with the video, and it was falsely shared as Iran’s unprecedented drone and missile attack on Israel.
Operation Sindoor
Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian government after the dastardly attack on tourists in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 people, including one Nepali citizen. The operation, carried out by the Indian Armed Forces, targeted nine terror hotbeds in Pakistan.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) deployed Rafale, Su-30 MKI, and Mirage 2000 jets to carry out precision strikes on terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir without crossing LoC, according to government sources cited by CNBC-TV18.
The Ministry of Defence, in a statement, said that the Operation Sindoor was a “measured” one and “non-escalatory” in nature. It added, “No Pakistani military activities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and the method of execution.”
