Pakistan Super League (PSL) has recently captured cricket fans’ attention after Hyderabad (Pakistan) and Sialkot entered the league with an over Rs 100 crore deal. The amount, however, looks modest when compared to IPL, and the earnings of star player Virat Kohli in his IPL journey.
According to ESPN.in FKS, an aviation and healthcare conglomerate based in the US, which also runs the Chicago Kingsmen, and OZ Developers, a real estate consortium, won the auction at the bidding. The deal has been considered the highest franchise fee in PSL history.
Virat Kohli’s IPL earnings
Interestingly, over a stellar 18-year IPL career spanning 2008 to 2025, Virat Kohli has earned approximately Rs 209.2 crore. Kohli remains a key player of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
PSL deal for Sialkot and Hyderabad
The ESPN report mentioned that the bidding process for the PSL started with a base price of 1.1 billion Pakistan rupees (PKR). This initial amount is the fee that the franchise pays to the PCB annually for the right to operate it for ten years. Notably, the bidding amount soared when FKS, led by CEO Fawad Sarwar, put in a bid for PKR 1.4 billion. However, in the end, both teams were sold as FKS picked up Hyderabad for USD 6.2 million, and OZ Developers won out with a USD 6.55 million bid for Sialkot. The combined amount for the deal stands at USD 12.75 million, approximately INR 114 crore.
