Tamim Iqbal news: Bangladesh cricket star and former captain Tamim Iqbal suffered a heart attack on Monday during a Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club in Savar. The veteran opener was rushed to the hospital, where he underwent emergency angioplasty after doctors detected arterial blockage.

Tamim, who was leading Mohammedan Sporting Club, left the field after just one over, citing chest discomfort. He initially visited the KPJ Specialised Hospital and Nursing Home (formerly Fazilatunnesa Hospital) for a check-up before attempting to take an air ambulance to another medical facility. However, his condition deteriorated, forcing him to return to the original hospital, where doctors confirmed he had suffered a heart attack.

“He was in good spirits during the toss,” BKSP chief cricket coach Montu Dutta told reporters. “But after feeling unwell, he drove himself to the hospital. The doctors initially advised him to stay, but he insisted on leaving. Unfortunately, he had to return in critical condition.”

A medical bulletin later confirmed the severity of the situation: “Tamim was brought back in a critical condition. We can confirm it was a heart attack. An angiogram and angioplasty were performed successfully, and he is now under observation. The quick response from medical teams ensured he received timely treatment.”

Following the incident, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) canceled a scheduled board meeting. BCB president Faruque Ahmed and other board members rushed to the hospital to monitor Tamim’s condition.

The 34-year-old batter, regarded as one of Bangladesh’s greatest cricketers, recently stepped down from captaincy but remains a key figure in the country’s cricketing landscape. His health scare has left the cricketing fraternity and fans deeply concerned, with well-wishers hoping for his speedy recovery.
