India Medal Winners List 2024: India’s campaign at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics has been a mix of thrilling victories and historic achievements, with the nation’s medal tally now standing at five: four bronze and one silver. The journey began with shooter Manu Bhaker, who opened the account by securing a bronze in the 10m Air Pistol women’s event. Manu didn’t stop there, as she, along with Sarabjot Singh, clinched another bronze in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event, making her the first Indian woman to win two medals at a single Summer Games.
Here are other Indian athletes who have brought medals so far
Swapnil Kusale – Bronze medal in 50m Rifle 3
Adding to India’s success in shooting, Swapnil Kusale made history by winning bronze in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions event. His achievement marked the first time an Indian had medaled in this category.
Indian Men’s Hockey – Bronze medal
The Indian men’s hockey team continued the momentum by securing a hard-fought bronze medal after defeating Spain 2-1 in the third-place playoff. Skipper Harmanpreet Singh’s two goals were instrumental in securing India’s back-to-back Olympic medal in hockey, following their bronze in Tokyo 2020.
Neeraj Chopra – Silver medal in Javelin Throw
The highlight of India’s campaign, however, came from the track-and-field events, where Neeraj Chopra once again proved his mettle. The javelin thrower bagged a silver medal with a throw of 89.45 meters, becoming the first Indian athlete to win two Olympic medals in track-and-field. Chopra’s silver added to his golden legacy from Tokyo 2020, where he had thrown 87.58 meters to clinch the top spot. This time, Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem broke the Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters to win gold, leaving Chopra with a commendable second place.
India’s medal quest is not over yet, as hopes are high for another bronze in the upcoming freestyle 57 kg wrestling match between Aman Sehrawat and Puerto Rico’s Darian Toi Cruz. If Sehrawat succeeds, India’s tally could see a further boost.
