After Chennai Super Kings’ exit from the IPL 2024, Thala, M S Dhoni, returned back to his hometown Ranchi on Sunday, May 19, as the team lost against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Saturday.

A social media user on X, formerly Twitter, uploaded a video of the cricketer with a caption “MS Dhoni back to Ranchi”. In the video, Dhoni can be seen boarding his car upon reaching the Ranchi Airport.

Will Dhoni retire?

It is speculated that the match against RCB on Saturday where Dhoni 25 off 13 balls with the help of three fours and a six, was his last IPL match. However, there is no official confirmation or announcement from the player’s side on his retirement from IPL.

Interestingly, last year he promised to return for one last season in order to show his appreciation for the fans’ support.

What happened on Saturday?

When CSK needed to make it to the playoffs based on a higher net run rate, bowler Yash Dayal remained composed to help RCB win despite getting struck for a massive six by Dhoni.

As the RCB players exploded into celebration, Dhoni shook hands with the opposition’s reserves and support staff before quietly leaving for the dressing room.
