India won their first Gold medal at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou in the Men’s 10m air rifle after the team comprising Rudrankksh Patil, Olympian Divyansh Panwar and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar brought home the coveted medal to India’s camp. The team also shot down a world record on the second day of the shooting competition on Monday. The trio of Rudrankksh, Aishwary and Divyansh accumulated 1893.7 points. 

Rudrankksh shot 632.5, Tomar 631.6 and Panwar 629.6 to aggregate the world record score. The Indian team broke the world record of 1893.3 set by the Chinese at the World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan nearly a month ago.

Following India, South Korea clinched the silver with an aggregate of 1890.1, while China won the bronze with a score of 1888.2

Ramita Jindal wins two medals on same day

Indian shooter Ramita Jindal earlier won two medals in the team’s and individual’s event in the 10m  air rifle competition at the Asian Games. Ramita clinched the bronze medal in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle individual event in Hangzhou on Sunday. She won the medal with a score of 230.1 in the final, while China’s Huang Yuting took the gold medal home with a score of 252.7, breaking the previous Asian Games record. China’s player Han Jiayu bagged the silver medal with a score of 251.3 in total.
