Samsung has announced the launch of its 860 PRO and 860 EVO solid state drives in India. The new Samsung 860 PRO and 860 EVO come as the successors to the 850 PRO and 850 EVO that were launched in 2015. Both the SSD models feature Vertical-NAND technology and come with memory capacities up to 4TB, where the top variant can hold up to 114 hours and 30 minutes of 4K Ultra-HD video, claims Samsung. The Samsung 860 PRO and 860 EVO SSDs will be available later this month, starting at MSRPs of Rs 12,200 and Rs 8,750, respectively.
The new Samsung 860 PRO and 860 EVO solid state drives are especially designed to handle various apps from “everyday computing to heavy workloads and graphics-intensive operations”. The 860 PRO SSD comes in the storage options of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, 2TB and 4TB while the 860 EVO comes with memory capacities of 250GB, 500GB, 1TB, 2TB and 4TB. Samsung claims that the 860 PRO is rated to store up to 114 hours and 30 minutes of 4K Ultra-HD video. Both the SSDs can offer 560MB/s read and 530MB/s write speeds and come with MJX controller to enable faster communication with the host system such as Windows, Linux, and macOS among others.
Samsung says that its 860 PRO solid state drive will be available in 2.5-inch form factor while the other 860 EVO solid state drive will come in 2.5-inch for PCs and laptops, as well as mSATA and M.2 form factors for “ultra-slim computing applications”. “The products offer unmatched solid state flash storage experience for both consumers and business professionals alike.
