PM Modi Highlights: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched the platform for ‘Transparent Taxation — Honoring the Honest’ as the government goes ahead with its tax reform journey. The platform is aimed to honor India’s taxpayers who have been sincere with taxes.  PM Modi said that the taxpayer is now assured of fair, courteous, and rational behaviour, that is, the I-T dept now has to take care of the taxpayers’ dignity sensitively. However, he added that every taxpayer should think of contribution, and those who are still not in the tax net must ask their conscience and see if they must pay taxes too. PM Modi also said that the number of taxpayers in the country is a very small percentage of the total population and fundamental reforms were needed in the Indian tax system. In a major announcement, faceless assessment and taxpayer charter has been started from today, whereas faceless appeal will begin from Sep 25. The launch of the platform for ‘Transparent Taxation — Honoring the Honest’ by the Prime Minister will further carry forward the journey of direct tax reforms, the Finance Ministry had said in a statement on Wednesday.
